Production + Fabric

Production

BARE collections are ethically manufactured in the surrounding budung regency of KEROBOKAN KELOD, Bali, Indonesia.

Ute, our factory owner worked for many years in a partnership at a factory nearby hand embellishing well known Australian designer collections before deciding to open up her own ethical, sustainable modern workshop a few years ago in the regency of Keobokoan Kelod, Bali.  Her factory promotes bringing together a community who share the same values in the re-investment of sustainable practices that endeavor to make it better for our customers, the workers and the planet.

All BARE collections are hand-dyed locally, then cut in Ute’s main workshop and scheduled for sewing amongst the local artisan women in the surrounding suburbs. These women have the comfort of sewing in their natural surroundings, taking care of their children, their ancestors and their homes while producing high quality pieces that will last season after season.

Our commitment to transparency and an ethical supply chain is proven by partnering with Ute’s factory and by working alongside the local artisans, knitting mills and dye houses within the industry.  By doing so, we know we are helping to create safe and fair employment opportunities that is a positive and viable alternative to the unnecessary fast-fashion consumption.

UNDERWEAR/LOUNGE

BAMBOO

Bamboo is incredibly soft and light making it a pleasant choice for underwear and basics. One of the fastest growing plants on earth with a growth rate of over 12 inches per day, it is tremendously strong and pest resistant. Often considered one of the most sustainable plants because it grows quickly and does not require chemicals or irrigation, and biodegrades more quickly than oil-based synthetics

Bamboo does not require replanting. The shoots are cut to their base and the bamboo re-grows from new shoots. A powerhouse when it comes to protecting the planet’s resources, maturing in only two years, it doesn’t require fertilizer or pesticides to grow quickly and strongly requiring four times less water compared to cotton.

The bamboo used in clothing is produced in an eco-friendly closed-loop process with at least Oeko-Tex 100 certification. In textile form, bamboo retains many of the properties it has as a plant. Bamboo is highly water absorbent, able to take up to three times its weight in water. In bamboo fabric, this translates to an excellent wicking ability that will pull moisture away from the skin so that it can evaporate making it great for both hot and cold climates.

Bamboo also has many antibacterial qualities, which bamboo fabric is able to retain, even through multiple washings. It exhibits up to a 99.8% antibacterial rate. This helps to reduce bacteria that thrive in clothing and cause unpleasant odors.
